Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the last 16, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Control Asserted from the Start
In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
